The Ballet Theatre of Maryland is hosting student role auditions for its 2017 production of The Nutcracker.

Please arrive at least 30 minutes before your audition time.

Fees and paperwork* required before the audition:

(1) $25 audition fee (nonrefundable).

(2) $150 costume fee (nonrefundable unless the student is not cast).

(3) Audition form.

(4) Contact info sheet form.

(5) Signed contract. Note that students are expected to accept any roles in which cast.

12:00 – 1:30 BTM Levels: Intermediate 3, Advanced, Pre-Trainee, and Trainee

Non BTM students: generally ages 15 and up or 6+ years of ballet training

2:00 – 3:00 BTM Levels: Intermediate 1, Intermediate 2

Non BTM students: generally ages 12 - 15 or at least 5 years of ballet training

3:30 – 4:30 BTM Levels: Beginning Ballet 1, Beginning Ballet 2, Beginning Ballet 3

Non BTM students: generally ages 7 – 12, or 1 - 4 years of ballet training

5:00 – 5:30 BTM Level: Pre-Ballet

Non BTM students: generally ages 6 -8 or less than 2 years of ballet training;

minimum age to audition is 6 years old by the day of the audition.

Students from this round of auditions (except princesses/cavaliers) must be available for rehearsals on M/W afternoons and Tuesday evenings (depending on the roles cast) during the summer from 6/26-8/4.

There is also an audition in the fall for additional roles, on Sunday Sept 10. After that audition, all roles rehearse on weekends only - Friday, Saturday and/or Sunday- depending on the role(s) the student is cast in, until we start rehearsing in the theatre in late November.

Performances are at the Bowie Center for the Performing Arts Nov 25 & Nov 26, at Maryland Hall for the Creative Arts Dec 9 & 10, and Dec 16 & 17, and the Baltimore Lyric Opera House Dec 22 & 23 (Lyric dates are tentative). Please note that not all students will perform at all venues.
