The Department of Visual Arts presents a lecture by the collaborative artist project LoVid as part of the department’s Spring 2017 Visiting Artist & Designer Series. LoVid (Tali Hinkis and Kyle Lapidus) creates large scale interdisciplinary projects that combine new technology with social interventions and public spaces. Their works explore the often invisible or intangible aspects of contemporary society, such as communication systems and biological signals. Hinkis and Lapidus are particularly interested in the ways technology seeps into the evolution of human culture: “Our practice includes performances, participatory public art, handmade technologies, textiles, prints, App-art, experimental video, and immersive installations. Our diverse practice invokes processes and ideas from art, science, and technology, to question perceptions of time, place, and the self in the networked era.”

UMBC is located about 10 minutes south of the Inner Harbor along I-95.
For the Albin O. Kuhn Library Gallery, pay and display visitor parking is available on the top floor of the Walker Avenue Garage for $2.00 per hour and payable by MasterCard, Visa or exact currency (no change provided). To reach the Walker Avenue Garage, circle around Hilltop Circle from either direction to Walker Avenue. Take Walker Avenue toward the center of campus. The garage will be on your right, with visitor parking on the top deck.
