This is Home presented by The Collective

The Collective, Baltimore’s hub for movers and shakers, will present work inspired by the universal theme of Home through the movement perspectives of the Baltimore-based Dance Company. Celebrating 16 years of calling Baltimore “home”, The Collective created a series of works that speak to healing and repairing of our beloved home city as well as examining what defines home from multiple perspectives. Co-directed by Alyson Jacques and Sonia Synkowski, The Collective is home to seventeen dance artists who gather to create new work and to offer bi-weekly dance classes for the public from their home at the Bryn Mawr School. Work created for This is Home is also heavily influenced and inspired by the Imagining Home exhibit currently on display in the new Patricia and Mark Joseph Education Center at the Baltimore Museum of Art.

Choreography by Samantha Hopkins, Polly Hurlburt, Martha Johnston, Adrienne Kraus Latanishen, Brittni Mann, Caitlin McAfee, Lynne Price, Kristen Yeung & guest choreographers Iyun Ashani Harrison and Sarah Beth Oppenheim.

Special Guest: Sydnie L. Mosley Dances

Lighting Design: John McAfee

In addition to This is Home, The Collective will host a series of Open Marleys, on Thursday, April 27 and Saturday, April 29. Similar to an "open mic night", the performance space will be open for choreographers to show work or work-in-progress with feedback from the audience facilitated and encouraged. For Open Marley: Artist Edition, the night will feature a collection of works or works in progress from local, professional artists. For Open Marley: Open Call, the performance will feature a collection of works or works in progress from both artists and pre-professional students.
