Baltimore Chamber Jazz Society Presents Vocalist Jackie Ryan

Baltimore Chamber Jazz Society Presents Vocalist Jackie Ryan

The Baltimore Chamber Jazz Society continues its 2016-2017 season at the Baltimore Museum of Art, Sunday, March 26, 2017, at 5 p.m., with a performance by virtuoso jazz vocalist Jackie Ryan.

The Jazz Times has called Ryan “one of the outstanding jazz vocalists of her generation and, quite possibly, of all time… rivaling the dexterous sass of Sarah Vaughan, the instinctive smarts of Carmen McRae and the scintillating verve of Diana Krall."

Ryan is known for her ability to draw out the very essence of a song just by singing the lyrics and the notes with unadorned sincerity. Described as a versatile, expressive singer, she has been profiled as the featured artist for NPR, Voice of America, PRIMETIME A&E and CNN TV en Español and has filled premier venues in the United States, Asia, Australia, and Europe.

Ryan’s ensemble for the March 26 concert includes Harry Allen, saxophone, Bill O'Connell, piano, Lee Smith, bass, and Jason Tieman, drums.

The performance takes place at the BMA at 10 Art Museum Drive, Baltimore, MD 21218. Tickets are $35 general admission, $33 seniors and BMA members, and $10 students. Tickets can be purchased in advance at http://www.baltimorechamberjazz.org, or at the door. More information is also available at (410) 385-5888 or on the BCJS page on Facebook.
