'Lom Nava Love' Premiere and Discussion with Live Music

MICA and the Youth Resiliency Institute (YRI) present a premiere screening of Lom Nava Love, a documentary centered on the work of community organizer Shirley Foulks and the residents of Cherry Hill, Baltimore, where she facilitates workshops for cross-generational art-making and children’s education.. The film is directed by YRI co-founder Fanon Hill, with original music performed by internationally renowned singer-songwriter and fellow YRI co-founder Navasha Daya.

Following the screening, Hill and Foulks will talk with WEAA radio host Marc Steiner about the creation of the film and how artists can work with local communities. Daya will also perform a selection of songs from the film’s soundtrack, alongside other performers including Mighty Mark, Baltimore club music DJ and producer for Tt The Artist '06 (General Fine Arts), and Rashad “Hurricane The King” Hawkins.

The event is sponsored by the President’s Task Force on Diversity, Equity, Inclusion and Globalization.
