Louis Hayes and The Cannonball Legacy Band Concert

Louis Hayes and The Cannonball Legacy Band Concert

The Baltimore Chamber Jazz Society continues its 2016-2017 season at the Baltimore Museum of Art, Sunday, February 26, 2017, at 5 p.m., with a performance by Louis Hayes and the Cannonball Legacy Band featuring Vincent Herring. This season marks the Society’s 26th year of bringing jazz greats to Baltimore.

The ensemble includes Louis Hayes, drums, Vincent Herring, alto saxophone, Jeremy Pelt, trumpet, Dezron Douglas, bass, and Rick Germanson on piano.

Hayes is known as one of the chief architects of modern jazz drumming. He has provided the rhythmic support for historic recordings by Horace Silver, Cannonball Adderley, and Oscar Peterson. In the process he has created signature language in his playing that has intensity both subtle and complex.

Hayes has served as a leader or a sideman on well over 100 albums, always capturing this creative art form and heritage and always proud to be a part of jazz history. The Cannonball Legacy Band, which pays tribute to an unmistakable legend in music, also features Vincent Herring, saxophone virtuoso with a uniquely intense and vigorous musical voice.

The performance takes place at the BMA at 10 Art Museum Drive, Baltimore, MD 21218. Tickets are $35 general admission, $33 seniors and BMA members, and $10 students. Tickets can be purchased in advance at http://www.baltimorechamberjazz.org, or at the door. More information is also available at (410) 385-5888 or on the BCJS page on Facebook.
