Four Strings Around the World: A Global Tableau of Solo Violin Repertoire
Experience a fantastic journey around the globe through a violin recital with a theatrical twist. Four Strings around the World for solo violin features works inspired by the composers’ own ethnic heritage and expresses a variety of musical cultures and performance techniques. Featured are Bach’s Chaconne and Paganini’s Caprice No. 24, as well as two new works commissioned especially for this program by Indian composer Shirish Korde and Native American composer Jerod “Impichchaachaaha’” Tate.
Presented in collaboration with ethnomusicology Professor Lawrence Witzleben.
