Improvisation as Soul Work: November Session

Improvisation as Soul Work: November Session

This class meets every Monday from December 5-19. In her book Daring Greatly, Brené Brown defines vulnerability as "uncertainty, risk and emotional connection." She goes on to say that vulnerability is not valued in our culture but seen as weak. However, she says, in order to live a wholehearted life we must courageously reach out and connect heart to heart. Coincidentally, one could define Improv as uncertainty, risk and emotional connection and this courage session we will explore the nervous "I'm not funny enough" demons that keep us armored against opening up. Work will be fast, fun and focused in the true spirit of Improv with no time to think our way out of being vulnerable. This session will help students learn to trust their creative instincts, improve listening skills and hone their connections through the art of Improv. This shared expression of our raw edges reminds us that we are not alone and go through this thing called life together.
