“Her warmth and strong stage presence allow her to communicate the essence, power and importance of jazz” says Sonny Rollins’s bassist Bob Cranshaw about Irene Jalenti, jazz vocalist who has brought her European flavor to Baltimore in 2010 and has become one of the most requested performers in the area.

Having grown up in an Italian family of musicians, her deep tone has been compared to icons such as Nina Simone and Cassandra Wilson, but her distinctive sound makes her unique and memorable.

A graduate of Peabody Conservatory Irene has studied with Gary Thomas and Jay Clayton. She is currently completing her Master Degree in Jazz Studies at Howard University where she is also part of the multi-award winning vocal jazz ensemble Afro Blue.

The singer has performed in prestigious venues like the Kennedy Center, Blues Alley, and more recently at the Apollo theater in New York City along with Patti Austin, Lizz Wright, and the Legendary Count Basie Orchestra.

The show will not only be a celebration to life, but it will present a fresh new approach to jazz music by fusing its tradition with other styles that have been part of the vocalist's growth, like folk, blues, and song writing. A show that will present personal arrangements and compositions that will take the listeners to a journey they will hardly forget.

Prosecco and cake will follow the performance!
