Sixty-eight years after his death, and 121 years since his birth, Babe Ruth remains Baltimore’s favorite native son and an object of fascination for baseball fans and pop culture aficionados around the world. Join us for a bus tour around Baltimore to see all things Ruth on Saturday, September 24th, 82 years to the day the Babe played his last major league game. We’ll walk in the footprints of his rags-to-riches story from the hardscrabble streets of Baltimore’s longshoreman district, through the formative years of his life and development as professional baseball player here in the city that launched his stardom.

We’ll see the house where the Babe was born, the school where he learned to play ball, the cemetery where his father George Ruth Sr. is buried, and the site of the original Baltimore Orioles’ ballpark and current home of the Peabody Heights Brewery where the Babe made his professional debut. As a special treat, we’ll get inside the former Cardinal Gibbons High School to take a peek at the Babe Ruth mural honoring his time at the St. Mary’s Industrial School where he first learned to play the National Pastime.

Our tour is led by Charlie Vascellaro, Babe Ruth aficionado and freelance sports writer who has covered baseball for many years and researched and written about the Babe. We will begin our tour at 10:00 am at the Peabody Heights Brewery and end here at noon for a beer and a frank (included in the tour price). Free parking is available in the brewery’s lot.
