Recital and Evensong: Sungpil Kim, Piano

Recital and Evensong: Sungpil Kim, Piano

The St. David’s Recital and Evensong series continues on October 16 with a pre-service recital featuring pianist Sungpil Kim. A doctoral candidate at the Peabody Conservatory, Mr. Kim has been praised by International Piano Magazine for performances infused with “magic in atmosphere, individuality, and poise,” and has appeared as soloist with the Moscow Symphony Orchestra, the Yamaha Rising Artist Series in Seoul, and at the Queen Elizabeth Competition. For this recital, Mr. Kim will present the first movement of Franz Schubert’s Piano Sonata No. 21 in B-flat Major, D. 960, as well as new works by Baltimore-based composers Christopher Ciampoli and Aaron Gage. The Service of Evensong follows at 5:00 pm, including works of Gabriel Fauré and Edward Bairstow. This evening of music is free and open to the public; a suggested donation of $15 ($10 students/retirees) benefits the musicians and the music series.
