Baltimore Beefsteak to benefit Family and Children's Services

Got Beef? We Do! Pull together some friends, family and colleagues and experience a truly different fundraiser—the Beefsteak. The Beefsteak originated among the New York City working class in the mid-nineteenth century as a social gathering for men. They would come together in rustic dining halls without forks, knives or napkins to sing, tell stories and catch up on politics, all while eating beef with their hands and drinking ale with abandon. Today, the Beefsteak concept is being introduced to the market as a way to raise monies in a new and exciting manner but with a retro feel (oh and women are invited too!). The Inaugural Baltimore Beefsteak is set to take place on Thursday, October 13 from 6:30-10:30 pm at the Mt. Washington Mill Dye House (1340 Smith Ave., Baltimore, MD 21209) to benefit Family and Children’s Services. The event will include music, entertainment, an assortment of microbrews, small craft bourbons and wine in addition to beef (of course), seafood, vegetarian dishes and much more. The diverse menu will be specially crafted by Linwood’s Executive Chef Tom Devine with collaborative inspiration and recipes from Bravo “Top Chef” Sue Torres. Tickets are $175 per person for the Main Event or $225 for the VIP Meat-and-Greet which includes access to the VIP cocktail reception (6 p.m.) and entry to the main event.
