THE KEIGO HIRAKAWA TRIO

THE KEIGO HIRAKAWA TRIO

The Keigo Hirakawa Trio is a hard hitting, hard swinging, jazz piano trio that reach the highest level of improvisational artistry. Acclaimed jazz pianist Stephen Scott describes Hirakawa’s playing as "full of inventiveness and a sense of adventure, creativeness and voracious angularity, aggressiveness, and jaggedness, passion and swing." Jazz critic Mark Sullivan of AllAboutJazz.com characterizes the ensemble as “a true trio, not just piano plus two accompanists.” Jo Beckers writes in the Doctor Jazz Magazine “Keigo Hirakawa Trio sounds on this CD how fresh and sparkling piano trio still can be.” After the trio's performance at Gilly’s in Ohio, legendary jazz guitarist George Benson introduced himself to Hirakawa by saying “I had to come to Dayton to hear real jazz!”

The Trio recently released a straight-ahead piano trio CD named "And Then There Were Three." It is a longstanding collaboration between Keigo Hirakawa (piano),Eddie Brookshire (bass) and Fenton Sparks (drums). The album enjoys airplay on over 100 jazz radio stations around the country.
