AKIMBO Dance & Movement Art Festival
Compelling dancers and engaging performance artists from Baltimore and surrounding regions will fill
the Station North Arts District with dance and movement art on Saturday, September 10, 2016 from
1:00 to 6:00 p.m. for the 4 th annual Akimbo Dance and Movement Art Festival. At this free festival, 18
dance companies will entertain audiences with traditional and experimental dance and movement art
tailored to the individual sites (both indoor and outdoor) throughout the Station North Arts District.
Akimbo is an excellent opportunity for guests to explore the Station North Arts District. Participants in
the festival can begin their experience at Akimbo by grabbing a map at the information booth at the
Ynot Lot (located at the corner of N. Charles Street and North Avenue) or at any of the 18 performance
sites in the neighborhood. Performances at each site will be continuous throughout the day. From 1:00
to 3:00 p.m. performances will be held at the North/West sites. From 4:00 to 6:00 p.m. performances
will be held at the South/East sites. From 3:00 to 4:00 p.m. there will be an all-inclusive Dance Jam
where audience, dancers and musicians can join together for an improvisational hour of dance and
movement art.
Akimbo is a free event. Guests are welcome to park on the street or in the parking lot located north of
