KEN AND BRAD KOLODNER

KEN AND BRAD KOLODNER

Regarded as one of the most influential hammered dulcimer players and old-time fiddlers in the US, Baltimore’s Ken Kolodner has joined forces with his son Brad Kolodner, a rising star in the clawhammer banjo world to perform tight and musical arrangements of original and traditional old-time music with a “creative curiosity that lets all listeners know that a passion for traditional music yet thrives in every generation.” The dynamic father-son duo pushes the boundaries of the Appalachian tradition by infusing their own brand of driving, innovative, tasteful and unique interpretations of traditional and original fiddle tunes and songs. In concert, Ken & Brad play an eclectic assortment of stringed instruments including the hammered dulcimer, fiddle, banjo, gourd banjo, hammered mbira, and banjola. They frequently perform with bassist Alex Lacquement.

Ken and Brad have invited a special guest to join them: Rachel Eddy performing on fiddle, guitar, banjo and vocals. Ken & Brad expect to collaborate more in the near future. For this show, they've got some new tunes and songs worked up with Rachel. Rachel Eddy hails from West Virginia, where she grew up steeped in Appalachian music and dance. After learning fiddle from her father she graduated to guitar and banjo, and now works full-time teaching and performing Oldtime music around the world. Rachel's multi-instrumental talents and soulful singing bring an energy to the stage you don't want to miss!
