32nd Annual Sowebo Arts and Music Festival

Named City Paper’s Best Festival, Baltimore’s always free and utterly unique Sowebo Arts and Music Festival is gearing up to return Sunday, May 29, 2016 beginning at noon. Located in the heart of Southwest Baltimore, the Sowebo Arts and Music Festival welcomes the summer with several of the city’s best sculptors, painters, jewelry makers, and fashion designers and some of their best works in an un-juried, un-censored art show. This year’s Kid’s Alley will be bigger than ever before with face painting, carnival acts and games, interactive art and crafts, a side walk art contest, skateboarding demos and basketball and football drills, sponsored by the Hollins Creative Placemaking Committee.

This year’s festival will also bring art and music lovers five stages of musical acts including the brand new “Heritage Stage” where performers of varying heritages will perform pieces unique to their cultures. There are 40 musical bands confirmed including the following recently announced performers:

· Bobby Thompson, Blues/Folk performer

· Ashley Sierra, Hip-hop performer

· Tropik Soul, Reggae/Neo Soul band

· Upstarters, Alternative band

· Rufus Roundtree and Da B’more Brass Factory, Brass/Funk band

· Fake Flowers Real Dirt, Indie Jazz band

· Puddle, Rock band

· Motor Morons, Garage band

· Rasha Jay, Blues performer

Foodies will enjoy food and drinks from Zeke’s Coffee, Thai Master Grill, Dolce Italian Ice, Asian Taste, Smoothie Island and more. A full list of participating vendors and performers can be found at soweboarts.org/festival.
